The state-owned enterprise Boryspil International Airport, Ukraine’s largest airport, seeks to handle a total of 12.55 million passengers in the present year, which exceeds the 2017 level by 19% when 10.55 million passengers were handled, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

This is the projected result suggested in the financial plan of the airport approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 11 April. According to the document, the corporation intends to increase the passenger flow on international routes by 16.8%, to 11.31 million passengers, and by 42.7%, to 1.24 million people.
“The decline in the airport fees in the Boryspil since June 2017 and the introduction of a program to foster growth in volumes by the number of airline carriers allow us to ensure significant growth rates of passenger traffic,” the airport said in an explanatory memo to the financial document.

The Boryspil international airport intends to serve a total of 101,466 flights in the current year, which is 16% greater than in 2017. The quantity of international flights is estimated at 89,363 (an increase of 17.6%), while that of domestic flights is expected to amount to 12,103 (a 5.4% rise).
As reported earlier, the Kyiv international airport provided its services to 1,852 million passengers in 2017, which is 64.2% more than the 2016 figure. 1,768 million passengers traveled on international flights, while another 83,3 thousand passengers traveled domestically.

The Boryspil international airport is a state-owned enterprise, operating around 55% of all flights to and from Ukraine. The facility serves as the base for Ukraine’s largest airline carrier, Ukraine International Airlines.
