“Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!” (Ukrainian greeting slogan, - ed.) – this words made someone called a police in Sahryn, Poland. Dzennik Wschodni, Lublin newspaper, reports.
As it is reported, official Ukrainian delegation consisting of Andrii Deschytsia, Ukrainian Ambassador in Poland, Vasyl Bondar, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, and representatives of local authorities of Lviv and Volyn regions, arrived to Sahryn to honour the memory of Ukrainian murdered by the Home Army (the dominant Polish resistance movement in Poland occupied by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union during World War II, - ed.) in 1944.

It is reported that Oleksandr Pyrozhyk, Deputy Head of Volyn Region Council, at the end of his speech said the traditional Ukrainian greeting “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!”. The news agency calls the greeting “banderist”.
One of the Polish people among the attendees regarded such greeting a violation of the Institute of National Remembrance Act and called the police.

The police officers took Pyrozhyk’s documents and left. The prosecution is determining whether the greeting was a violation of the law or not.
Earlier, 74 years ago the Home Army and Bataliony Chlopskie (Polish World War II resistance movement, guerrilla and partisan organization) performed actions against Ukrainian population in Tomaszow and Hrubieszow districts in Poland.
