The Foreign Ministry of Russia responded to the statement of the Ukrainian nationalists with the intention to disrupt the holding of the election of the president of Russia in Ukraine on March 18. The ministry urged Ukraine to provide the security during the voting.
‘We demand the unconditional insurance of the security of the Embassy of Russia in Kyiv, Russian General Consulates in Kharkiv, Odesa and Lviv from the authorities of Ukraine to prevent the occurrence of any obstacles to their full-fledged functioning and free visitation by the citizens of Russia’, the message said.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry also urged the international community to influence official Kyiv in this issue and put the responsibility on Ukraine for the consequences of the possible provocative actions.
‘Russian side will follow closely the situation around the diplomatic establishments of Russia and Russian citizens during the election. We count that Kyiv will assume all necessary measures for the timely prevention of the possible provocations’, the statement claimed.

Earlier the representatives of the nationalist parties such as Svoboda, Right Sector and National Corps promised to block Russian presidential elections in Ukraine on March 18, 2018. Political parties intend to block polling stations and form ‘corridor of shame’ for voters – Russian citizens.
The election of the president of Russia will take place on March 18, 2018. The Central Election Commission registered eight candidates, including Vladimir Putin, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Ksenia Sobchak and Grigory Yavlinsky.
