Ukraines President Petro Poroshenko hopes that European countries will not allow Russia to use tools of gas blackmailing. Poroshenko said it during the meeting with Peter Hulkivist, Swiss Defense Minister, broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
Russias actions after the Stockholms Arbitration decision, a threat or a public announcement, that they stop gas supply to Ukraine, regardless of the Courts decision, and do not plan to abide by the decision concerning gas transit and their threats of contract termination, which is not provided by the contract, give reasons to think over the relevancy of the Nord Stream 2 project in terms of energy supply security in Europe. This project monopolizes Russias gas supply to EU and violates principles of diversification. I hope, that countries of northern Europe, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark are key to prevent Russia from using tools of gas blackmailing of Ukraine and EU, Poroshenko said.

As we reported earlier, Gazprom has officially forwarded a notification to Naftogaz-Ukraine about gas supply contracts termination through the Stockholm Arbitration.
But Naftogaz did not receive any notification.

The Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce has granted the lawsuit of Naftogaz as to compensation for the volumes of transit gas that had not been delivered by Gazprom on February 28. According to the decision of the court, Naftogaz got a $4,63 billion compensation for the transit gas that had been agreed on, but not delivered by Gazprom. As a result of two arbitrations in Stockholm, Gazprom is to pay Naftogaz $2,56 billion. The court dismissed the demands of Gazprom that stated that the money hadnt been paid as it was considered the fines for what they called unlawfully seized by Naftogaz volumes of the transit gas. $526000 of interest per day will be added to the debt from March 1.
