Spokesperson of the Interior Ministry Artem Shevchenko says that a brief time the detained protesters spent on their knees before being transported to police departments wasn’t humiliating them, as he wrote on Facebook.
“As to the yelling of the so-called humiliated arrested people. A brief stay of the detainee before being put into the transport is not humiliation but widely used by police officers of different countries practice to ensure the personal security of the police officers through putting the detained individual into a position when they can be controlled, which includes the chance of being suddenly attacked,” Shevchenko emphasized.
According to him, it was an alternative to making the detained lie face-down in the snow.

“It’s strange that MP Mustafa Nayyem doesn’t know these technical rules, given that he participated in enrolling people for the patrol police in a few cities in 2015-2016,” Shevchenko added.

As we reported earlier, clashes between the protesters and law enforcers occurred last morning and over 100 people were detained. The police came to the camp of the protesters to conduct an investigation at the protesters' camp, according to the decision of the court.

The police officers started the investigation in the protesters’ camp under two criminal procedures: the events of Feb. 27 near the Parliament, when 14 police officers were wounded, and the events near the October palace in 2017, when police officers were also wounded. As to the events of Feb. 27, a few protesters were informed about suspicion.
While searching the premises of the camp, the police seized nine RGD-5 grenades, fuses, Molotov cocktails and five smoke grenades from "peaceful" pro-Saakashvili protesters.
