Germany's SPD to announce coalition vote results

Open source

German Social Democrats will announce results of the voting concerning coalition with conservative CDU/CSU. The results of the voting will put a period to the prolonged process of forming a new cabinet of ministers.
If Social Democrats say “no” to coalition with conservatives, German’s internal crisis will move to another level. Then there will be two scenarios: either creation of the minority government or parliamentary re-elections. The results are expected to be announced at 9 am local time (10 am Kyiv time).
As it was reported earlier, SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) officially declared coalition negotiations with CDU/CSU, headed by Angela Merkel, successful. They couldn’t form a coalition for more than a year. Under the coalition agreement the SPD governs the Finance Ministry and Labour Ministry. CDU/CSU receives seats in Economic Affairs Ministry and Defense Ministry of the country.

CDU/CSU tried to form coalition with “free democrats” and the Greens, but the leader of the Free Democratic Party Christian Linder disengaged his party from the negotiations. Later, the Greens did the same. They stated that with the votes remained the coalition will make a “minority government” and they do not want to take part in it. The negotiations with SPD lasted for a long time because of disputes concerning migration policy. Yet the parties have reached compromise.
