Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto believes that the decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on the "Kolesnychenko-Kivalov" language law is evidence of "brutal attack" of the Ukrainian authorities on the right of minorities to speak their native language. This was reported by the official website of Hungary’s government.
According to the minister, what happens in Ukraine cannot be happening in legal framework.
"Anyone who doubted whether minorities are really under attack in Ukraine has now received an answer to the question," Szijjarto said.
"National communities are brutally attacked in Ukraine. A series of related actions began with the Law on Education and continued with attacks on the headquarters of the Hungarian Culture Association in Transcarpathia, And now the language law that allowed minorities to use their native language was destroyed,” government portal added, noting that this is the position of Szijjarto, but not giving his quotation on this matter.

As it was reported earlier at its hearing on 28 February, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine produced a ruling in regards to whether the law “On the principles of the state language policy” (the so-called “Kolesnychenko-Kivalov” law).
Nevertheless, Ukrainska Pravda has informed that the court’s press service told no final ruling has been made yet – the text is being proofread and its final version is expected to be published in the nearest future.
The Law "On the Principles of language policy", submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by MPs Vadym Kolesnichenko and Sergey Kivalov. According to the law, the language of the Verkhovna Rada and acts of public authorities, is Ukrainian. When it comes to the language of elections, referendums, science, and education - the focus is on the human right to freely use any language.
