Ukraine imports almost 14 bcm of gas from Europe in 2017

In 2017 Ukraine imported 13.942 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth $3.23 billion from the European Union, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has informed, UNIAN reports.

Most gas came from Switzerland – a total of 5.6 billion cubic meters worth $1.3 billion were delivered from there. Also, 3.7 billion cubic meters worth $847.8 million were shipped from Germany, another 1.5 billion cubic meters worth $343.2 million arrived from Poland.

Ukraine received 48.6 million cubic meters of gas worth $11.2 million from Austrian traders, 542 million cubic meters worth $127.3 million from the United Kingdom, 67.3 million cubic meters worth $15.9 million from Italy, 179 million cubic meters worth $40.7 million from Luxembourg. Additionally, 222.16 million cubic meters worth $55.3 million were shipped from Slovakia, 768.2 million cubic meters worth $178.9 million were delivered from Hungary, another 1.02 billion cubic meters worth $237.9 million arrived from France, 252 million cubic meters worth $55.6 million were purchased from the Czech Republic.

In late November 2015, Ukraine quit purchasing natural gas from Russia’s Gazprom. Generally, Ukraine doubled gas imports from Europe in 2015 against 2014, to 10.3 billion cubic meters, simultaneously cutting the purchase of hydrocarbons from Russia by 56.5%. In 2016, Ukraine imported a total of 11.1 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe alone. Particularly, 9.1 billion cubic meters were purchased from Slovakia, 1 billion cubic meters arrived from Hungary, whereas 1 billion cubic meters were shipped from Poland.
