Ukrainian Parliament adopts state budget for 2018
Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament, approved the state budget for the next year. 273 lawmakers supported the law in the second reading. The MPs worked until the late evening, and the session was closed after 11 p.m. Thursday.
Most MPs from Petro Poroshenko's Bloc, People's Front, Oleg Lyashko's Radical party, Vidrodzhennya Party Group and People's Will supported the document. The majority of the Opposition Bloc, Samopomich and Batkivshchyna party disapproved the bill; the latter's MPs were not even in the session hall during the voting procedure.
The budget stipulates the following numbers:
Revenues: USD 32.62 billion
Expenses: USD 35.30 billion
Budget deficit: USD 2.9 billion
Minimal salary: USD 133 per month/USD 0.83 per hour
Minimal living wage: USD 60.70 per one person per month (January 2018); USD 66.17 per one person per month (December 2018)
The document also foresees the following expenses for respective governmental agencies (roughly):
Defense Ministry - USD 3.07 billion
Interior Ministry - USD 2.47 billion
SBU, the Security Service of Ukraine - USD 200,000 million
Prosecutor General's Office - USD 200,000 million
National Police - USD 800,000 million
National Guard - USD 400,000 million
Ministry of Education and Science - USD 1 billion
Healthcare Ministry - USD 1 billion
Social Policy Ministry - USD 5 billion
State Emergencies Service - USD 400,000 million
Culture Ministry - USD 230,000 million
State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting - USD 60,000 million
State Space Agency - USD 110,000 million
National Academy of Sciences - USD 160, 000 million
