Nord Stream-2 can harm Ukraine of 3% of GDP, - US Ambassador

The building] through the Baltic Sea by the Russian ‘Gazprom’ will noticeably harm Ukraine that can equal to 3% of the GDP. Ambassador of the US to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch claimed this at the Oil&Gas conference as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
‘The Nord Stream will decrease the transportation of the gas through Ukraine. It can lead to the losses in the amount of 3% of the GDP’, she said.

‘Gazprom’ and its partners are going to start the building of the ‘Nord Stream-2’ project that costs almost 10 billion Euros in April 2018. It is supposed that the 1 200-kilometers gas pipeline will be forging through the Baltic Sea and it will connect Russian and Germany passing Ukraine, Poland and Baltic countries. The capacity of the pipeline will be twice bigger in comparison with the first ‘Nord Stream’ and the building should end until 2019.

Kyiv stood against this building, calling it politically motivated and offered the EU to create the consortium with the involvement of the European companies for the management of the existing and more effective transportation route through Ukraine.

Also, the number of the EU countries, particularly Poland and the Lithuania expressed their disagreement with ‘Nord Stream-2’ project.
