Timur Makhauri, who died in a car explosion in downtown Kyiv, had been a friend to with ex-Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Lortkipanidze, as well as worked for Georgian special services, according to Chief Editor of Tsensor.NET Yuriy Butusov, based on the sources of the media.
“It is obvious that, based on this information, Makhauri, deeply involved in the life of Chechen community in Turkey, and having had information on Russian agents, wasn’t a convenient figure for Russian special services. Georgian sources say that Russian special services framed Makhauri n 2012, to draw attention away from their employees hunting down Chechens. Once the Turks figured out that Makhauri worked for Georgians, they let him go,” the journalist wrote.
When Lortkipanidze became Head of Odesa department of the National Police, car exploded in downtown Kyiv. There were three people in the car: Makhauri, who died, a woman, who is in hospital now, and a child, who wasn’t hurt. Criminal proceedings were opened under Part 2 Article 115 of Criminal Code of Ukraine (murder, committed in a way that poses threat to society).
