Polish diplomats call on Russia to stop occupation of Crimea

Polish diplomats call on Russia to stop occupation of CrimeaPoland does not recognise Crimea’s annexation and supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine in its borders, recognised by the international law, the Foreign Ministry of Poland announced in a statement.

This is reported by 112 UA TV Channel.

“Three years ago Russian Armed Forces started Crimea’s annexation. The illegal “referendum” was held at the point of a gun and on March 18 it was announced that Crimea became a part of Russian Federation. Poland will not recognise the so-called annexation of Crimea and solidly supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity within its borders recognised by international law,” the statement says.

Polish diplomats called on Russia to stop the occupation of the peninsula.

“Until then, we stand for European Union, USA, Canada and other countries to keep sanctions in response for its illegal actions. Restoring principles that lie on the basis of cooperation in Europe has to be a priority for all the Euro-Atlantic community,” the Foreign Ministry writes.

Poland is very concerned about the situation with human rights in the annexed Crimea, especially those of Crimean Tatars, the statements says.

The Foreign Ministry called this situation a direct threat to the Black Sea region and a favourable condition for the destabilisation of the whole Eastern and Southern Europe.

"The fact that the UN, OSCE and Council of Europe do not have the opportunity to work in the Crimea, resulted in the creation of "informal zones of anarchy” in the heart of Europe," the Polish Foreign Ministry convinces.
