All migrants were rescued from boats in the Strait of Sicily in 11 different rescue operations, Italy's coastguard said. The migrants were picked up from eight rubber dinghies, one large boat and two punts.

Last Friday the International Organisation for Migration said that some 105,342 migrants had reached Italy by boat this year. 2,726 persons died while trying to cross the Mediterranean. In the same period 162,730 people arrived in Greece, and 386 died on their way.
