Malaysian oil tanker hijacked
A Malasian oil tanker carrying 900,000 liters of diesel has been hijacked, Malaysian maritime authorities said on Tuesday. Reportedly, the ship was taken into Indonesian waters.
The MT Vier Harmoni was sailing from Tanjung Pelepas port in Malaysia on Monday when it was seized.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said the tanker has been located in the waters off Batam, Indonesia."We got in touch with our Indonesian counterparts this morning to launch a joint operation,"
Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar, the director general of the MMEA, tweeted.
The ship was carrying diesel valued at about $400,000.
Still it is unknown if the tanker was hijacked by pirates or was taken to Indonesia by the crew.
