Huffington Post editor-in-chief steps down

Huffington Post editor-in-chief steps downArianna Huffington steps down as Huffington Post editor-in-chief, media release reported on Tuesday.

Huffington will leave the AOL-owned site, that she co-founded, to run a new venture, Thrive Global.

“I thought HuffPost would be my last act. But I’ve decided to step down as HuffPost’s editor-in-chief to run my new venture, Thrive Global,” she said via Tweeter.

Thrive Global “is a corporate and consumer well¬being and productivity platform.” The web-site will provide trainings, seminars, e-courses, coaching, and ongoing support based on the latest scientific findings from experts in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, productivity, sports, and sleep.

“As Thrive Global moved from an idea to a reality, with investors, staff, and offices, it became clear to me that I simply couldn’t do justice to both companies,” Huffington said.

The Huffington Post was launched on 9 May, 2005, by Arianna Huffington and the American businessman Kenneth Lerer and other investors. It pulls together liberal-leaning news reports as an alternative to conservative news aggregators such as the Drudge Report. The site offers news, blogs, and original features, and covers politics, lifestyle, and entertainment.

Across all nine international Huffington Post sites, there are 81m monthly unique visitors.

“And of course, HuffPost will always be part of me, and I'll always be here to help in every way possible as it continues to reach new heights," Ms Huffington said.
