North Korea forcing workers to take drugs to build new skyscraperNorth Korean workers are being given a methamphetamine-based drug in the hope it will speed up a major construction project, according to reports.

The workers should take meth as they construct a new skyscraper in the city’s capital Pyongyang. The 70th floor building should be finished before the end of the year and employees should do their work faster.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has heaped pressure on construction managers to get it done at all costs.Bosses are said to be worried sick with fear of the consequences if the work is not completed.

A source told Radio Free Asia: “Project managers are now openly providing drugs to construction workers so that they will work faster.”

"[They] are undergoing terrible sufferings in their work."

Takers experience increased energy as euphoric rush can last up to 12 hours.

Meth use has reached "epidemic" levels in the isolated country. A study published in North Korea Review estimated that “at least 40 to 50% [of residents] are severely addicted [to crystal meth]," while also indicating that the government itself was directly responsible for some of the meth production.
