Delta’s flights are delayed worldwide

Delta’s flights are delayed worldwideUS airline giant Delta has suspended departing flights after suffering a major system outage on Monday. Flights are delayed worldwide and technicians were working to resolve the computer problem as soon as possible.

"Our systems are down everywhere. Hopefully it won't be much longer," the airline said on Twitter.

Flights scheduled for departure were not taking off, but those already in the air were operating normally, Delta said in a statement.

"Customers should check the status of their flight before heading to the airport while the issue is being addressed," the company said via Twitter.

The reason of the outage or how long it will take to resolve has not been released.

London's Heathrow airport said: "Delta flights from Heathrow are experiencing delays due to the worldwide technical issue with their computer systems. Check-in is currently operating using a back-up system and airport staff are on hand to assist any passengers that are impacted by the delays."

Also Delta has been responding to unhappy customers on Twitter.

Delta is one of the biggest world companies in terms of most passengers carried. Delta serves about 180 million customers a year, employing over 80,000 people, its website says.
