People who read books, live nearly two years longer - US researchersAmerican scientists have found that love of literature is not only a good impact on the overall level of intellectual development of man, but also can significantly increase life expectancy. Employees of Yale University conducted a long-term study that showed that people who regularly read books, live an average of two years longer than those who do not like to read, writes the Indian Express.

It is noted that in the experiment scientists participated 3,5 thousand people from different countries. The subjects, the minimum age was 50 years, were divided into three groups, depending on the time they devote to reading of literature - from those who do not read at all, and those who read more than three and a half hours a week.

Experts observing the study participants 12 years, noted that people often like to sit with a book (read the greatest fans were women with high education and high income), different from other lower mortality. Thus, in 12 years of experiment, some subjects, given their advanced age, have died. Among those who like to read, death rates were 23% lower than those who do not have the habit of spending free time with a book in hand.

The reason that reading continues life is unknown. Numerous previous studies have argued that the overall level of education can affect several aspects of life, such as material well-being, mental health, privacy and so on.
