Another day, another leak: Wikileaks released DNC audio files

Another day, another leak: Wikileaks released DNC audio filesWikiLeaks on Wednesday placed audio recordings pulled from the emails of the Democratic National Committee that were obtained by hacking its servers.

The latest release came in the middle of the Democratic National Convention where Hillary Clinton was officially named the party's presidential nominee. It is the second batch in a series that has deeply rattled the party and prompted the organization's chairwoman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, to step down.

Links to the 29 recordings were posted on Twitter a few hours before US President Barack Obama took the stage in Philadelphia to address the party's national convention, a meeting that formally nominated Clinton as the Democratic candidate for the White House.

The WikiLeaks files seemed timed to embarrass the party and Clinton, although the audio recordings did not appear to contain any bombshell revelations.

Last Friday, Wikileaks released 20,000 e-mails from the top of the Democratic National Committee that purportedly show the party working against Senator Bernie Sanders and his election campaign. The leak came hours before the party's presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton announced Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate for the presidential elections. The party had been accused of favouring throughout the campaign and attempting to sideline Sanders.
