Chinese militant were recognized as terrorists by UKThe British government has officially added the East Turkistan Islamic Movement to the list of terrorist and separatist organization. The latest list determines the Turkistan Islamic Party as Islamic terrorist group.

The TIP is also known as the East Turkistan Islamic Party and the East Turkistan Islamic Movement.

British intelligence analysis says the group has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks in China, the latest of these being in April 2014. It also says the TIP has links to a number of terrorist groups, including al-Qaida.

China had demanded Western support for its fight against a group it says seeks to split off its western region of Xinjiang. Western countries have long been reluctant to share intelligence with China or otherwise cooperate when it comes to counter-terrorism in Xinjiang, saying China has provided little evidence to prove ETIM's existence and citing worries about possible human rights abuses.

The addition of ETIM to the list of proscribed organizations comes as leaders from China and Britain have proclaimed the countries are enjoying a "golden age" in relations.

The TIP is an Islamic terrorist and separatist organization founded by Uyghur militants in western China. Its stated goals are the independence of East Turkestan from China. According to the Chinese government, it is a violent separatist movement and is often responsible for terrorist attacks in Xinjiang. The group has been designated as a terrorist organization by Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, China, and the United States. Its Syrian branch Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria is active in the Syrian Civil War.
