Kremlin allowed Vira Savchenko to leave RussiaThe decision to restrict Vira Savchenko’s exit from Russia, due to putting her on the federal wanted list, was cancelled; she will be able to leave the country by the end of the day.

Earlier today, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed Vira Savchenko’s detention. “Our consul is currently in the police department, trying to ensure her release. The embassy in Moscow is also working on it”, - the Ministry stated.

Previously, Nadia Savchenko’s lawyer Ilya Novikov informed that Vira Savchenko is not allowed to leave Russia. “She was informed that she is wanted at the federal level for insulting the judge. Since she was in a car with diplomatic license plates, state border guards had no right to detain her”, - Novikov informed.

His counterpart Mark Feygin stated it’s not the first time that Vira Savchenko has been detained in the Russian Federation. The fact has two explanations. Feygin clarified the situation at a briefing. “This is not the first time that Vira Savchenko was detained. She was also detained back in January 2015, she was denied access to Russia. This time she was detained for several hours, they took away her passport and informed she is wanted at the federal level”, - Feygin noted.
