The General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)
detained the head of the so-called “Central Election Commission of the DPR” Roman Lyagin. The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko reported this on his Facebook page.
“The GPU and the SBU detained the head of the “Central Election Commission of the DPR,” who organized and conducted the so-called referendum of the DPR in May 2014. A citizen Lyagin is accused of treason,” Lutsenko wrote.
As it was reported earlier, Roman Lyagin was the “chairman of the Central Election Commission” at the “referendum” on May 11, 2014. He was a “Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the DPR” from May 16 to September 26. After that, from September 26, 2014, he again headed the “Central Election Commission of the DPR.”

In April 2016, the leader of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” Alexander Zakharchenko fired Lyagin “due to activities incompatible with the position.”
Earlier, two Ukrainians detained for illegal sale of Russian gas to occupants from DPR.
