PACE urged Moscow to free Nadiya SavchenkoPresident of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Pedro Agramunt called on the Kremlin to stop trial and free Nadiya Savchenko.

He has twitted: "I regret Ms. Savchenko’s trial being adjourned and call for end of the process against her and her release."

Ukrainian pilot and MP has been sentenced by Russian prosecutors to 23 years of imprisonment. Todey morning she started a hunger strike without water.

Lawyers of Nadiya Savchenko published her statement.

“I, Savchenko Nadiya Viktorivna, a citizen of Ukraine, announce a hunger strike without water starting from March 3, 2016 till my return to Ukraine alive or dead,” reads a document.

She stressed that this is a protection action against the Russian government, Russian special services, investigators, judges and prosecutors who “are trying to conceal their crimes”. Among the latter, Savchenko named violation of international law, kidnapping from Ukraine and transportation to Russia against her will, as well as illegal detention and “dishonest court”.
