The so-called Kyiv District Court in annexed Crimea has extended the arrest of Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov
for two months. He is accused of the illegal storage of the munitions and explosives. Bekirov will stay under arrest until June 12 as Krym.Realii reported, citing lawyer of political prisoner Islyam Velilyaev.
“The defense had all necessary documents for choosing of less strict measure of restriction in the form of the house arrest. But neither prosecutor nor judge heard our arguments and left a seriously ill person at the remand center,” the lawyer reported.

As we reported earlier, the health situation of Crimean Tatar political prisoner Bekirov is critical.
Russian law enforcers detained Crimean Tatar Edem Bekirov at the entrance to occupied Crimea on December 12, 2018. Edem was heading from mainland Ukraine to Crimea to visit his 78-year-old mother and relatives.

According to Ukrainian MP Refat Chubarov, Bekirov was arrested during passport control on the territory controlled by the Russian law enforcers. Later, Chubarov noted that the detainee was taken to Russia’s Security Service office in annexed Simferopol.
