Court closes case on illicit enrichment against Infrastructure Minister

The court closed the case on illicit enrichment against Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan as Ukrainian News reported.
The court made such decision on April 3 as the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized the article of the Criminal Code on the illicit enrichment unconstitutional. The court announced only the operative part of the decision.

Besides, the court lifted the arrest from the garage of the minister in Lviv, flat in Kyiv and BMW car as it is reported citing lawyer Oleksandr Lysak.
Earlier,  Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Bureau informed Infrastructure Minister Omelyan of suspected illicit enrichment.

NABU representatives stated that from January 1, 2000 to April, 26, 2018 Omelyan received $77,500 of official income. At least $123,214 were at his expenses within the period from 2008 till April 26, 2015.
Later, NABU detectives claimed that the crimes of Omelyan are not grave so they will demand to choose the restrictive measure for the minister in the form of bail in the sum of almost $179,000.
On September 19, Solomianskyi District Court of Kyiv arrested the property of Volodymyr Omelyan.
