Foreign Ministry of Ukraine hails the extension of the mandate of the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE in Ukraine as the ministry reported.
“Noting the important role of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of the OSCE in Ukraine in the assistance in the peaceful settlement of Donbas Conflict on the basis of the respect for the independence, sovereignty, political unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine hails the decision of the OSCE Permanent Council on the extension of the SMM mandate,” the ministry added.

Ukraine supports the strengthening of the special monitoring mission for the effective observation of the fulfillment of the Minsk Agreements for the peaceful settlement of the Donbas Conflict, monitoring and reporting within the mandate on the situation on the militarization of annexed Crimea and restriction of the navigation in the Sea of Azov and Kerch Strait.
Once more Russia was urged to provide the unhindered access and freedom of movement of the observers at the temporarily occupied territories, particularly, the Crimean peninsula.

As we reported the OSCE Council decided to renew the mandate of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (SMM) by another year.
Earlier Germany offered to extend the mandate of OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine to the Sea of Azov.
Besides, the OSCE endorsed the draft law on advocacy in Ukraine (No.9055), estimating it as a 'progress' compared to the current legal frameworks in this specific area.
