The U.S. Department of State has stated that the words of Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko that U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch supposedly gave him the list of people, who should not be prosecuted
are not true and aims to tarnish the reputation of Ambassador Yovanovitch, as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
“Ambassador Yovanovitch presents the U.S. President here, in Ukraine and America supports the ambassador after his statement.  The statements of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine do not correspond to the reality and aims to tarnish the reputation of Ambassador Yovanovitch. Such accusations are an advantage only for the corrupt figures,” the U.S. State Department said.

The State Department emphasized that Ukraine, as well as the U.S., is the free country with the free mass media and “the politicians, experts, and mass media have a right to share their opinion, which is the part of the political process,” but it does not mean that such statements are true.
“Such attacks double our determination to help Ukraine to win in the fight against the corruption,” U.S. State Department representative emphasized.

As we reported Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch a do not prosecute list. Lutsenko’s Press Secretary Larysa Sarhan in a commentary for BBC Ukraine specified that this list contained names of the Ukrainian MPs.
