Forced labor imposed in occupied Luhansk

The occupation authorities of Luhansk region have actually implemented the forced labor for local citizens as OstroV reported citing the decision of the so-called “Council of Ministers” of the self-proclaimed “Luhansk People’s Republic” (LPR).
It is stated that the order of the involvement of the local citizens to the fulfilling of the work “for the needs of the defense, liquidation of the consequences of the use of the weapon by enemy, restoration of the damages (destroyed) objects of the economy, life-support systems” was developed in accordance with the so-called “martial law” of non-recognized republic.

Men in the age of 18-60 years and women in the age of 18-55 years will be involved in the forces labor activities. People, who are able to enter illegal armed formations of the “LPR,” single mothers, pregnant women, and disabled people, will be released from the forced labor.
The so-called “people’s militia” and executive bodies of occupation authorities have the right to attract people to forced labor.
According to the decision, the civilians are obliged to come to pointed place at the established time and fulfill “the works for the needs of defense.” The occupation authorities promise to feed population free and pay compensation established by the so-called “Labor and Social Policy Ministry” for it.

On March 12, the UN Monitoring Mission on human rights reported that human rights are regularly violated on the occupied territory of Ukraine. In particular, right to freedom of opinion, freedom of religion and right to a fair trial.
Earlier Russia has asked the UN ombudswoman to protect the citizens of Crimea from the actions of the Ukrainian authority.
