Ukraine's NSDC First Deputy Secretary suspends mandate due to corruption in army procurement

(NSDC) of Ukraine Oleg Gladkovsky appealed to the law enforcement agencies asking to check the information published in the journalist investigation Bihus.Info. That information contains facts about illegal deals in purchasing in the army. Gladkovsky also asks to suspend his mandate as First Deputy Secretary of NSDC, as Interfax-Ukraine reported.
“To prevent any innuendos, I personally appeal to the Main Military Prosecution, and to NABU with a statement to check everything revealed in the investigation and give me and the whole community the answers. I ask you to suspend my power as First Deputy Secretary of NSDC and Chairman of the Inter-Agency Commission on Policy Relating to Military and Technical and Export Control for the period of inspection. I file the relevant statement immediately,” the news agency cited the mentioned documents.

Right after that, the President’s Spokesperson Svyatoslav Tsehlko stated that Petro Poroshenko supported the suspension of Oleg Gladkovsky.
“Petro Poroshenko demands that the law enforcers carry out immediate information verification, revealed in the journalist program “Our money” to refute or confirm this information,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
Ukrainian presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko has initiated impeachment proceedings against Poroshenko, as his own Kuznia na Rybalskomy company was involved in the corruption schemes as a straw company.

February 25, journalist investigations Bihus.Info, Nashi Hroshi program alleged that Igor Gladkovsky, the son of close Poroshenko ally Oleh Gladkovsky, deputy secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, organized a corruption scheme to smuggle spare military-equipment parts from Russia in 2015. State defense facilities purchased the smuggled spare parts from private companies linked to Hladkovsky and his friends at highly inflated prices. Ukroboronprom state concern, which supervises defense industry production facilities, knew the origin of the smuggled parts but agreed to purchase them.

Igor Gladkovsky, along with Vitaliy Zhukov (former advisor of “Ukroboronprom” Director, the member of supervisory council of “Meridian” company till 2013, former assistant of Yuriy Tereshchenko, ex-Head of State Service of export control, Oleg Gladkovsky’s friend, - ed.) and Andriy Rogoza (CEO of “Inter Steel Ltd.”, - ed.) were supplying smuggled Russian components and components from the Ukrainian military units through straw companies at prices 2-4 times higher than market ones.
