World Bank satisfied with work of Ukraine’s Acting Healthcare Minister

The World Bank is satisfied with the work of Acting Healthcare Minister of Ukraine Ulyana Suprun and expects further cooperation in the reforms as the World Bank reported on
FacebookRegional Vice President of the World Bank Cyril Muller has held a meeting with Ulyana Suprun during his visit to Ukraine.

The message notes that Suprun has shown sustainable leadership in the holding of the reforms of healthcare, which aims for improvement of the Ukrainians’ life.
“In just 9 months after the start of the primary health care reform, 23 million Ukrainians have selected a primary care doctor, and 76% are satisfied with the quality of that care – up from 10% satisfaction rate for service quality in 2015. In addition, primary care providers contracted by the National Health Service received more funds than in the past, for salary increases for medical personnel to provide affordable primary care, equipment purchases, and renovation of medical facilities,” the message said.

It is also noted that this year the ministry begins the next stage of the reforms, including the hospital reform, emergency care, determination of the guaranteed benefit package and extension of the eHealth and telemedicine.
“The World Bank remains firmly committed to continuing supporting Ukraine in its goal to provide every citizen with affordable and quality healthcare. We look forward to continuing our excellent cooperation with Acting Minister Suprun and build on the successes achieved to date,” Muller said.

As we reported, Suprun's role as acting health minister was questioned by MP from the Radical Party of Lyashko Ihor Mosiychuk
. The court explained that such a decision was made as Suprun has dual citizenship. Apart from the Ukrainian one, she also has a U.S. passport. 
The government of Ukraine expressed the support of Suprun, as well as the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, did.
On February 7, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appealed the decision of the court on the suspension of Ulyana Suprun.
