Tourist found in Carpathians remains in stable condition

A tourist from Kyiv Igor Gryshchenko, who went missing in the Carpathians at Christmas night and found five days later, is in intensive care unit. He is conscious, in a stable condition, as Nataliya Batur, the Spokesperson of Zakarpattia region Emergency Service, said, UNN reported.
According to the Emergency Service, the rescued skier has hypothermia, fingers’ and lower limbs’ frostbit. The tourist was taken to Svalyavsk central hospital.

It is known that when rescued Gryshchenko was conscious. He went to forester’s lodge in a mountainous area near Bereznyky village. He heard flying helicopters and wanted to light a bonfire. Later he called 101 and informed that his phone was going dead. The tourist named approximate coordinates and guidance of his location.
As it was reported, the rescue services found the tourist who lost his track in the Carpathian mountains on Christmas Eve, on January 6. 

The skier got lost in the mountains and spent several days there; eventually, he managed to contact the local search and rescue service in Svalyava, Zakarpattya region, westernmost Ukraine. 
'The man reported he was at a forest guard house, adding that he heard a helicopter hovering above. He also noticed certain landmarks visible near that location', the service reported.  

As of noon January 9, the man's whereabouts were unknown. On Tuesday, four search and rescue teams searched the area in Zakarpattya region; the works involved 18 State Emergency Service workers, four vehicles and 11 forest guards.
