The force will initially comprise troops from 10 NATO countries including Italy and Canada, as well as Romania, reports EUtoday.
Details of the new force size are currently unclear. NATO officials said the land component of the force involves a brigade-size multinational NATO force, typically some 3,000 to 4,000 troops.

In addition to existing NATO Black Sea naval patrols, a maritime presence will include more allied visits to Romanian and Bulgarian ports, enhanced training and exercises of a limited scale.
As we reported earlier, USS Fort McHenry landing ship of the U.S. naval forces arrived in the Romanian port Constanta in the Black Sea on January 8.

Prior to that, on December 17, the spy ship HMS Echo (H87) of the British Royal Navy entered the Black Sea through the Bosphorus.
According to Ukrainian military portal, the main designation of HMS Echo (H87) is holding of the research hydrographic or geodetic operations and support of the amphibious operations; besides, the ship can be used for the management of the naval operations, mine actions, search and identification of the undersea features.
