The militants of occupied Donbas has disrupted the agreed mine clearance near the checkpoint “Mariinka” as the
Headquarters] citing the Ukrainian side of the Joint Coordination and Control Center.
“It was planned to close the circulation of vehicles and civilians through “Mariinka” checkpoint at the time of the events on the mine clearance, on December 27, 2018, from 10:00 am until the end of the holding of the works. Moreover, on the eve, it was supposed to warn the civilians who plan to cross the demarcation line at the direction of the territories temporarily uncontrolled by Ukraine through the mass media that they should use the nearby checkpoints “Novotroitske” and “Mayorske”,” the message said.

However, on the evening of December 26, when all organization events were agreed, the representatives of the armed formations of the Russian occupation troops unilaterally disrupted the holding of the planned works.
“They noted in the letter to the OSCE SMM that they refuse from their commitments and do not guarantee the observing of the ceasefire regime during the works on the de-mining,” the Joint Coordination and Control Center added.

Earlier UN reported that Donbas is one of the most mined regions in the world
and Ukraine ranked first in the world in terms of the number of deaths from mines. In his turn, the Minister of Temporary Occupied Territories Vadym Chernysh asserts that before the end of hostilities in the Donbas region, it is meaningless to take measures to demine the territory.
