Ukraine offers Russia to exchange prisoners on January 5

Ukraine offered Russia to exchange hostages on January 5, 2019. Iryna Gerashchenko, the Ukrainian representative in the humanitarian subdivision of Minsk trilateral group posted this on Facebook.
According to the official, Ukraine passed the OSCE the proposal to pardon and pass 72 pro-Kremlin separatists in exchange for 19 Ukrainian hostages held in the occupied territories. Kyiv is also ready to pass Russia 22 citizens, detained in judged in Ukraine. In exchange, the Ukrainian side urges the Kremlin to release and send 22 political prisoners back to Ukraine. 
Gerashchenko admitted that Ukraine offered the OSCE to gather all sides to Donbas conflict for the video conference on December 27, to discuss this initiative. 

Earlier, Yevhen Marchuk, the official representative of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group said that Russia declined both options for the exchange offered by Kyiv. Besides, he said, Russia demonstrates it was not ready to discuss the exchange of Oleg Sentsov, Roman Sushchenko and other Ukrainian political prisoners.
Last time the sides exchanged hostages was on December 27, 2017. According to the SBU data, 73 people returned to Ukraine-controlled territory, while 233 returned to the occupied areas of Donbas.
