Ukraine has not made any progress in the introduction of a visa-free regime between Ukraine and Canada, as Andriy Shevchenko, the Ambassador of Ukraine, said during the hearings in the Parliament’s Standing Committee, Ukrinform reported.
“Unfortunately, I don’t see any progress in visa-free regime question. Moreover, in 2018 we have recorded an increase in the number of denials of visa for Ukrainians. This indicator reached 26%,” Shevchenko said.

He stressed that there are no reasons which would explain such high indicators.
“The goal of our states is clear: we have to give people free opportunities to travel,” the diplomat noted.
Earlier, Canada’s Government informed that it did not consider the possibility to introduce a visa-free regime for Ukrainians as Ukraine does not comply with the requirements Canada puts. Then, Shevchenko noted that visa-free regime between Ukraine and Canada will not be introduced in the nearest future.

Earlier, Ukraine canceled visa for Canada citizens in 2005.
