The bishop’s council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will take place on December 15. Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine made such statement as 112 Ukraine reported.
“I am glad to announce the date of the bishop’s council, which should declare the creation of the Autocephalous Local Orthodox Church of Ukraine. The council will take place on December 15, 2018, at Saint Sophia Cathedral, which has been the center of the Orthodox Ukrainian religious life for centuries. His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew informed me that he signed the proper letters to the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyiv Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church and Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Moscow Patriarchate with the invitation to participate in this important historical event,” the president said.

On October 11, the Synodus lifted the anathema from Filaret, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kyivan Patriarchate, and Makariy, Primate of Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church. Filaret stated that united Jubilee Bishops' Council would take place soon to create a unified Ukrainian local church.
In addition, the Ecumenical Patriarchate recognized Russia’s Orthodox Church annexation of Kyiv metropole in 1686.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew signed an agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Turkey.
