Kyiv Obolon District Court went to the deliberation room to sentence the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, as Vladyslav Devyatko, the presiding judge, said, Ukrainian News reported.
“The court goes to the deliberation room to make a final decision on this case,” he said at the hearing on Wednesday, December 5.
Earlier, the court refused to cease the consideration of the case, because of ex-President’s sickness. The lawyers provided a medical certificate to the court which says that Yanukovych is in a hospital with a new diagnosis since December 3. At the same time, the defenders could not explain where and what the accused treated on November 19 – December 3.

The judge Devyatko said that this diagnosis in no way precludes Yanukovych from addressing the court through a video-link.
“The medical certificate does not say that his head or vocal organs are wounded,” the judge said.
He stressed that Yanukovych could make last plea on October 12, but he did not use this opportunity.

Therefore, the court ruled that the accused decided to remain silent. The court decided not to wait for the last plea of the accused and go to the deliberation room. Devyatko stressed that the case was considered on 89 hearing, which is enough.
On November 16, ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych hospitalized in Moscow. According to the doctor, Yanukovych was delivered to the hospital yet on Friday in the immobilized state with suspected serious spinal injury, as well as a knee injury. As far as is known, he was injured while playing tennis at a famous Moscow tennis court, from where Yanukovych was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

The lawyer of Yanukovych reported that the ex-president will be in a hospital for about three weeks, and he won’t say his last plea on the case for treason.
Yanukovych is charged with state treason, assistance in deliberate actions against Ukraine’s state border, sovereignty and territorial integrity and assistance in leading the aggressive war against Ukraine.

As it was reported earlier, the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office asks the court to sentence ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to 15 years of imprisonment in the case on state treason, as Prosecutor Maksym Krym said during the debates in the court on Thursday, August 16.
