Man arrested for fatally stabbing Filipino woman

Police on Friday arrested a 45-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing a 48-year-old Filipino woman, in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture.
According to police, Yasumasa Yamaguchi stabbed his former girlfriend, Rowena Haga, at around 11:20 p.m. Thursday in a Japanese pub in Naka Ward, Fuji TV reported. The pub owner called 110 to report that a customer had been stabbed.
Haga was taken to hospital with stab wounds to her chest and legs but died shortly after arrival.
Yamaguchi fled the scene in a car but was picked up by police four hours later, walking along a street about two kilometers from the pub.
Police said Haga had filed a complaint with them about Yamaguchi in June after she told him she wanted to end their relationship, and he was given a warning to stay away from her. Police said they do not know why Haga was with Yamaguchi in the pub on Thursday night and are questioning him about the circumstances.
The pub, which Yamaguchi and Haga often went to, is located about 400 meters west of JR Hamamatsu Station.
