New MacBook Pro models face 'fatal data loss issue'

Apple could be unable to recover data from its new MacBook Pro Touch Bar laptops if they fail, according to reports.
The issue was reported over the weekend by the Apple-focused website, which noted how a design change in the 2018 model made the tech giant's special data recovery tool unusable.
Although the issue does not make 2018 models more likely to lose data, owners may have to use specialist data recovery companies to get their work back in the event of a data loss.Apple's data recovery tool is used by Genius Bars and Apple authorised service providers to help customers whose computers have stopped working.Previous models have used a special port which connects directly to the internal logic board, where the computer's circuits are housed.
However, the data recovery connector has been removed from the new Touch Bar models, meaning that this tool cannot be used when the logic board fails.MacRumors reported that "multiple reliable sources" had confirmed that Apple's data recovery tool is "incompatible with 2018 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar models".
