Whatsapp to soon come with new live sharing feature, low battery notification and status sharingWhatsapp messenger has reportedly added another new update to its long list of updates and this new update will make the messenger more social in nature. Whatsapp has been constantly evolving in the past couple of years, especially after its takeover by social media giant Facebook. While there was already a rumour suggesting these updates, looks like they are set to arrive sooner than later.

The new Whatsapp updates, which are still in the Beta phase will roll out to both, Android and iOS users simultaneously, unlike previous updates which would arrive one at a time. It is not just one update but 2 major upgrades that Whatsapp is planning to soon launch. And while there is no word on when the upgrades will be out for everyone, as they are available in the Beta stage and see being tested, it should not be too long before they finally arrive.

While the first update brings changes in location sharing, the second one helps users make better use of the status message feature, which is currently pretty redundant. But beginning with the first feature, the new Whatsapp app will have an all new location sharing feature. While users presently can share their locations with friends and update them on where they are, there is no option to share live location. With the new Whatsapp feature, users can share live location with their friends. The location can be shared with individuals or with friends and the user can also choose who he wants to share the location with. Location can be shared with multiple users at the same time. The new feature will help people stay connected and in touch.

This will also enable security mode for women as they can share their live location with family and friends, especially while travelling late or alone.

The new option is called the ‘Show My Friends’ option. Once you enable the feature, your friends or family (the audience you choose) will be able to see and track your exact location. You can either choose for how long you want to share the location or can set it to an indefinite period where all you have chosen will be able to track your location at all times. The new versions of Whatsapp are for iPhone and 2.16.399 for Android and are presently available in Beta stage. the information has been shared by WABetaInfo over their blog where they even shared screenshots of the new updates. This new feature will also help find people while travelling or help you locate friends who might be close to you at as particular moment. Since the location can be shared with multiple friends and for a longer duration, it can also be used by travel groups to stay connected to each other. Coming to the second feature, this feature has been in the works for sometime. The new feature brings some changes in the redundant Status update. While Whatsapp users to have the option of updating their status, it is hardly seen as it is hidden and accessible only if you specifically open the contact profile and look for it. There are many who hardly ever update their Whatsapp status. However, with the new upgrade, Whatsapp is all set to bring in sharable updates – meaning, you can share your status updates with your friends. You can also choose to share it with all or select friends. Leaks have also revealed that Whatsapp Android versions might be getting an additional Status tab, just like the present tabs for Chats and Calls. It is sure to bring in a more fun element to the app. Oppo to launch Oppo A57 in India on February 3, to come with 16 MP front camera.

There are multiple other features in the offing and Whatsapp for iOS has recently received one of the largest upgrades. The new feature brings iOS Whatsapp up to date with its Android counterpart. There is yet no word on when the feature will be available but it is expected to roll out sooner than later. It would be fun to see Whatsapp in an all new avatar once again!
