Oleksandr] and Murat Gassiev, the fighters who are soon to go toe-to-toe in the final of WBSS tournament, went for a staredown in Moscow. The fighters talked to the press.
'When I came to watch Murat's fight in Sochi, his compatriots approached me and congratulated me on making it to the final. They said: 'We'll support our guy, but you're good, too'. This is what respect means; when you support your favorite without badmouthing his opponent. This is respect, and it's a common thing. It doesn't matter what country or city you represent. If you are an educated man, you respect your opponent, his team and all those people around, then you are truly a human being. But if you act as a piglet, well, then you are one', he said.
'My biggest wish is for such fights and tournaments to take place as often as possible. Then, the boys will be more interested in going into boxing. I'm not worried about boxing in Moscow. It's a good thing that the fight takes place. To me, it's a common thing to go somewhere and box there', Usyk concluded.
As is known, the Ukrainian and the Russian fighters will meet within the finale of the WBSS, the World Boxing Super Series. The winner will take all champion titles in the heavyweight division.
Usyk previously claimed the fight against Gassiev will be a 'beautiful one'. 'It doesn't matter much to me - where I fight. It might seem unfair, but it's going to be the way the God intends. I don't care where to go; wherever I go, it's 'do or die' for me,' the Ukrainian champion said.
