Josip Pivaric, a Croatian football defender who is in the middle of his three-year contract with Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv, is the first Ukrainian football player to reach the World Cup final. Croatia wins over England in the World Cup semifinals on Wednesday at Luzhniki Stadium
Croatia will face France in their first World Cup final on Sunday.
After overturning a 1-0 deficit, Croatia finally beat England 2-1 after extra time in the semifinal in Moscow. Goals by Ivan Perisic and Mario Mandzukic, following Kieran Trippier's fifth-minute opener, booked Croatia's place in the final for a repeat of the 1998 semifinal against the French.
As it was reported earlier, on July 7, after Croatia’s win against Russian team, Vida and team’s coach Ognjen Vukojevic posted a video, where the player chants ‘Glory to Ukraine’ and Vukojevic says: “This win is for Dynamo and for Ukraine. Go, Croatia!”

Ukrainian Embassy in the United Kingdom reacted to the publications of British media that writing about events around Croatia’s football player Domagoj Vida, called the slogan ‘Glory to Ukraine’ nationalistic.
On Wednesday, President Poroshenko said Ukraine appreciated the words of support of Domagoj Vida and Ognjen Vukojevic, the Croatian footballers who devoted their victory over Russia in 2018 World Cup.
Later, Croatian footballer Domagoj Vida apologized for this to the Russians.
