Ognjen Vukojevic, the member of Croatian delegation
at the FIFA World Cup 2018 will have to leave Russia. The former player of Dynamo Kyiv and the current football scourt of the Ukrainian team suffered a punishment by the Croatian football federation. This is due to the recently uploaded video, in which Vukojevic and Croatia's defender Domagoj Vida expressed their support for Ukraine. The video evoked huge reaction in the media and the Ukrainian audience - even those who are not big fans of football. Social networks are full of mems and comments related to Croatia's victory over Russia, which hosts the championship.
Croatian football federation evaluated this expression as a manifestation of politicism in the sport. FIFA examined the video and also found it too 'political'.The authority merely warned Vida of any further 'provocations', and Vukojevic was fired as the member of the Croation delegation in FIFA World Cup. Later, Vida said that the popular slogan ' Glory to Ukraine' was 'merely a joke, as a gratitude for Ukraine's support of Croatia's national team in the World Cup'. But that did not help soften FIFA's response, as the authority fined Vukojevic for 15,000 Euros.

Ukraine stepped in, offering help. Andriy Pavelko, Ukrainian MP and the President of Ukraine's football federation claimed that the Ukrainian side was ready to pay the fine to support Vukojevic. Later, Vukojevic kindly turned down the offer, saying he would pay the fine on his own. The former player also asked the people not to make this whole story political - especially his words in support of Ukraine.
'I don't want to drag anyone else in this situation, I want to solve it on my own. I didn't want to hurt anyone with those words. FIFA has nothing else to claim against me. Thanks to all for their support', he said.
Meanwhile, Croatia's national team made it to the semifinal, where it will cross swords with England. The game is slated for June 11.
On Tuesday night, France defeated Belgium 1-0 and, thus, will play in the final.
