Ngumbu should not be underestimated, - Ukraine's WBC world champion Gvozdyk

Oleksandr Gvozdyk, the Ukrainian boxer and the WBC light-heavyweight champion of the world spoke to the press about his forthcoming fight against French fighter Doudou Ngumbu.
'I saw the fans are disappointed with my choice of opponent. But I would disagree with them. Ngumbu is one of the guys who you should not underestimate. If you do, he will kick your ass silly. Yes, he's been defeated before. But if you look closely, you'll see he only lost to top fighters. No, this guy is not that simple. I guess the fans just underestimate him', he said as quoted by BoxingTalk.

'I watched his previous several fights. Yes, I'd agree that he's not as dangerous as Adonis Stevenson. But he's really good at making spoilers, especially if you underestimate him. I'll treat him seriously. I am well motivated, I keep on training, and I work to avoid my previous mistakes. All fighters are dangerous, everybody can hit you. This guy can take a lot. He's well trained, and he can easily undergo all 12 rounds. Besides, in the final round, he fights exactly as if it was the first one. And his defense is nice, too. So it will be tough', Gvozdyk said.

Doudou Ngumbu is 36; the boxer of mixed French-Congolese origin, he spent 46 fights in the professional division, winning 36 of those. He came to Kyiv on two occasions, winning over Vyacheslav Uzelkov in 2013 and losing to Umar Salamov in 2015.
Oleksandr Gvozdyk is one of four Ukrainian world champion boxers. He got his title in December last year, when he knocked out Adonis Stevenson. After the fight, the Canadian boxer was put into an induced coma; he recovered from it soon after that.
