Ukrainian Consul visits Sushchenko in Moscow’s Lefortovo

Ukrainian Consul Gennadiy Breskalenko managed to get to Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko, illegally detained in the Russian Federation. UkrInform reported that citing Julia Sushchenko, the daughter of Roman.
"Today the Consule managed to make it through to visit my father in Lefortovo prison. He feels good, if one can say so taking into account the environment he has been in for almost two years. He gives everyone congratulations. He filled the documents to get permit for telephone called to the relatives, though it is unclear when he gets it," Julia Sushchenko told. 

As we reported earlier, Lyudmyla Denisova, Ukraine’s Commissioner for Human Rights, was not allowed to visit Roman Sushchenko, a Ukrainian journalist kept in custody in Russia. 

Ukrainian Roman Sushchenko, the reporter of Ukrinfiorm news agency, was detained in September 2016 in Moscow and accused by the FSB of espionage. For this, he faces 20 years in prison. Ukraine has appealed to Russia with a demand to release the Ukrainian journalist multiple times. Moscow City Court of Russia has sentenced Roman Sushchenko, the citizen of Ukraine to 12 years in the hard labor colony for the espionage. Russia’s FSB believes that Sushchenko came from Paris to Moscow to visit his cousin in September 2016 to collect information on Mariupol attack. The court session against Sushchenko took place in the closed regime and the court announced only introductory and resume parts of the decision.
