Combat dolphins that previously served with Ukraine's Navy deceased in the annexed Crimea where they were stationed. Borys Babin, Ukraine's presidential envoy in Crimea said this while on air with 112 Ukraine TV channel.
According to him, the mammals who lived and trained at the naval base in Sevastopol, contacted with the Ukrainian military, using special whistles. However, when the Russian instructors received the whistles and the rest of the equipment, the dolphins refused to contact them or even take food from them.

Babin added that the illegal construction of the Kerch Strat bridge led to serious environmental issues on the occupied peninsula.
'The office of the presidential envoy in Crimea developed an action plan, which aims to counteract the Russian aggression on the peninsula. 'I'm sure we will have it approved in June, and let the public see it. This is a huge document, which covers the actual issues of defense and security', he said.
After the annexation of Crimea in February 2014, combat dolphins and seals that had served with Ukraine's Navy were considered the Russian Navy property.
