Victory Day in Ukraine: All detainees released

All the detainees during the mass actions on the Victory Day were released. This was stated in the comment of the communication department director of Internal Ministry (MIA) Artem Shevchenko.

According to Shevchenko, the police will be on duty in the reinforced regime until the end of the day.

The head of the Kyiv Police Andriy Kryschenko at a briefing noted that as at 13:00 on the police station, there was one detainee. According to Kryshchenko, law enforcement officers detained 6 people at mass events on May 9 in Kyiv.

Earlier, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Yarovyi said that in Ukraine on Victory Day, police filed protocols against ten people (production and propaganda of St. George's ribbon).

"In addition, the police brought 14 people for offenses related to the use of the banned Communist totalitarian symbolism", said Yarovyi.

Besides, police officers in Odesa reported on two people, who were detained for bearing a Georgian ribbon.
Many mass events dedicated to Day of Victory over Nazism in WWII are held in Ukraine today.
According to the police, around 1,5 thousand events are planned to be held in Kyiv. Around 390 thousand citizens will participate in the events. 20,5 thousand police officers and National Guard servicemen will keep the order in the state on May 9.
