Police look into anti-Semitic slogans during rally in Odesa on May 2, - interior minister

Ukraine's Interior Ministry
Law enforcers opened a criminal investigation for violation of the racial and national equality of rights, a case of which occurred in Odesa, southern Ukraine on May 2. Arsen Avakov, Ukraine's interior minister posted that on Twitter on Thursday.
'Public anti-Semitic appeals in Ukraine are unacceptable - including those exclaimed during rallies, like the one in Odesa. It is the case of fancy medievalism, which has nothing to do with expressing patriotic views. The police of Odesa opened the case under Part 1 of Article 161 (violation of racial and national equality of rights of citizens)', he said.

On May 2, solemn events took place in Odesa, timed to the fourth anniversary of the tragedy at Kulykove field and at the House of Trade Unions. The local nationalists who represented the Right Sector movement held a march, where the leader of the movement's local cell exclaimed: 'We believe that in the future, we'll bring true Ukrainian order to Odesa and the rest of Ukraine. Ukraine will belong to Ukrainians - not to the Judes or oligarchs!'.
The video that contained the speech was uploaded on the Web; it evoked an outrage among many users.
