Fire at arsenal in Balakliya: Flames cover area of 35 heactares

The overall area of the fire at an arsenal in Balakliya, Kharkiv region, northeastern Ukraine
makes some 35 hectares. This is mentioned in the message released on the website of Ukraine's State Emergencies Service. 
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, 37 vehicles and 150 men have been putting out the fire at the military infrastructure object. 
Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko ordered to use the aviation of State Emergencies Service in order to cope with the flames. 
The fire began in the afternoon on May 3. A fire rescue tank trod on an unknown explosive item, which resulted in the flame. The fire, in turn, led to a number of explosions.

According to the press service of the General Staff of Ukraine, the dry grass caught fire at 13:55 at the former technical territory of a 65th arsenal in Balakliya. The works on the cleaning and demining of the armaments' debris that did not explode during the previous fire took place and the new fire has begun. The staff that cleaned and de-mined the area has been evacuated. The police limited the road traffic and entrances to the town.

'Army soldiers and the Emergency Service assumed measures to provide the safety for the local', the message said.
As 112 International reported, a series of powerful blasts took place at an ammunition storage facility in Kharkiv region on late March 23. The incident occurred near the town of Balakliya. Many of the locals were evacuated from the town and its vicinities. The fire caused by the blasts was finally extinguished the day after that, by the evening of March 24. Numerous casualties and even a fatality were reported.
