newstrack

Stephen Hawking, a famous British theoretical physicist and one of the founders of the cosmology died at the age of 76. However, he left the vast scientific heritage for the world and he made a number of the extraordinary discoveries that made him famous and well-known even many years from now.
The way of the future world scientist was not always bright and confident as it turned out to be. At the age of 21, Hawking was diagnosed amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and was predicted to live another two years. However, the prediction of the doctors came true only 53 years later on March 14, 2018.
Despite all difficulties, Hawking became the famous scientist and made the outstanding discoveries. Hawking in the cooperation with Roger Penrose presented the gravitational singularity theorems, within which was stated that the Universe began in a singularity; also, he found the bound between the gravity and quantum theory.
Talking about the space, Hawking declared that black holes are not as we used to treat them. The black holes emit the radiation that makes them not completely black and this theory got the name Hawking radiation.

Also, Hawking published a Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes in 1988. This book was written for the non-specialist readers with no particular knowledge in the science about the universe, basic concepts, and many other issues. It became the best-seller and more than 10 million copies were sold within 20 years.
As the great scientist Hawking did not reject the offers to appear in the TV shows and different media projects such as The Big Bang Theory series, Hawking: Brief History of Mine and many others. He treated this as one the methods of the popularization of the science, the same to his book. The simple and easy explanation of the science was also one of his missions.

Despite the great scientific works Hawking also left the memorable and inspirational statements. There are the most popular of them:
'My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you doing well and don't regret the things it interferes with. Don't be disabled spiritually as well as physically';
'Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up';
'The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge';
'We are in danger of destroying ourselves by our greed and stupidity. We cannot remain looking inwards at ourselves on a small and increasingly polluted and overcrowded planet'.
